I’m Jasper van Buuren, an independent philosopher based in the Netherlands with publications in the fields of phenomenology, philosophical anthropology, and the philosophy of the good life. I obtained my master's degree in philosophy in Amsterdam and Leuven. After several visiting studentships in the United States I received my PhD in Potsdam, Germany.

I believe that philosophy should be relevant to our factual lives and that philosophers should be able to explain to non-philosophers why their work matters. Good philosophy takes its inspiration from nature, people, love, art, in short: from life itself, and it feeds back into life by shaping our reflection and experiences.
